  St Paul's Autumn Fair 2008

On Saturday, 25 October 2008,  St Paul's church hosted its annual Autumn Fair.

And, despite heavy rain and strong winds the event once again proved a major fund-raiser for the Church raising nearly £600.

Whilst, as usual, members of the congregation turned out in force to support the event, it was  especially satisfying to see the numbers of  strangers" coming  into the Church in search of a warm drink, an even warmer welcome plus and a bargain or too as well.

Stalls included a raffle, the ever popular cakes and home baking, and books plus an early chance for Christmas shopping with gifts and candles and hand made greetings cards.  Visitors could try their luck with 50p parcels whilst a Christmas board game offered the opportunity to win a prize from Santa's Stocking.  The Sunday School provided further colour with a selection of toys, clothes and bric-a- brac.

And, of course, the main attraction was the refreshments - catering for the rain-swept and the wind blown with soup, sandwiches and still more home baked cakes.

As ever, the mainstay of the fair was the ever dependable Ladies Group and credit must go to them, the Sunday School and to all the individuals who gave of their time before, during and after the event to make the day such a colourful and profitable success.2008_1025autumnfair080011
