More about Alpha Courses
Alpha is for …
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith.
Learning and Laughter. It is possible to learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time.
People who already come to church - as well as those who don't. Alpha means beginnings and gives a chance to look again at the foundations of the Christian faith.
Helping one another. The small groups give you a chance to discuss issues raised in the talks.
|
Asking anything. At Alpha no question is regarded as too simple or too hostile.
|
What happens at Alpha? |
Coffee and tea are available for about fifteen minutes before the evening begins with a talk. After a light supper we divide into smaller groups to discuss any questions raised by the talk, aiming to finish by 9.30pm.
Alpha covers such topics as:
Who is Jesus?
Why did Jesus die?
Why and how should I read the Bible?
Why and how should I pray?
What about the Holy Spirit?
How does God guide us?
How can I overcome evil
Why and how should I tell others?
What about the Church?
One of the many benefits of Alpha is its ability to accomodate newcomers to the faith alongside more mature Christians and have everybody benefitting equally. By now many of you will know friends who have completed an Alpha Course - we challenge you to find anyone who is not glad they went!!!
